Didn’t even know of %Arabica until my close friends asked me out to try it few days ago, since they know I like coffee. And of course due to my nature, I went to google more information prior the trip there and found out it was a famous Japanese coffee brand with quite a bit of global presence. Well, time to see the % ΔRΔBICΔ world through coffee.

Cafe Latte Single Origin - Tall (S$9)

I feel it’s cuppa of light, balanced, and milky coffee. Definitely even a beginner into coffee would enjoy it.

Although I would prefer my coffee more robust/deep with fruity notes (ie. Espresso Station’s Vietnam Dalat, Starbucks Reserve’s Christmas 2018, Aged Sumatra or Nicaragua Maracaturra).

But this is not to say it is not a good cup of coffee, it is a GREAT cup of coffee, just stating my personal preference.

In my opinion, this will be better than most Starbucks Reserve’s single origin beans except than a few which are my all time favorites from SR (ie. Christmas 2018, Aged Sumatra or Nicaragua Maracaturra).

Have also checked with the barista what is the Single Origin beans of the day, and was told it was the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Adado Grade 1 (can refer below for the entire list of coffee beans for purchase).

Cafe Latte Single Origin Iced - Tall (S$9)

Same coffee as the above, but iced.

It is even lighter and diluted compared to the hot version, well due to the ice cubes.

To me I feel I start to can’t really taste the subtle notes already, would only suggest the iced version for really hot days or people who are really just started to try coffee.

They also sell pastries, but didn’t try it during our trip.

Also not sure whether it is made in-shop or outsourced.

Prices for reference:

  1. Almond Croissant - S$4.2

  2. Pain Au Chocolat - S$3.5

  3. Croisssant - S$3.2

Overall

It is a good place to get a good cuppa coffee if you are around the area (especially even so if you like lighter coffee). Prices might seem high compared to say regular Starbucks coffee, but it is almost the same price compared to Starbucks Reserve’s single origin coffee (prices depending on which varietal of single origin bean).

I also tried a bit of my friends’ Cafe Latte but the blended bean version, the taste is pretty normal, similar to Starbucks regular coffee.

So do yourself a favor and get the single origin coffee at %Arabica, it’s just a dollar more compared to the blended version, but the difference is day and night.

Will I come back for more? A definite yes (for the single origin).

Environment

Very clean and minimalist look with all the necessities provided in a small space. Several bar stools beside the collection point, 1 row of long bench by the windows, in-house coffee roastery, and a toilet at the very corner of the shop. Outside the shop, there’s also a few tables that can seat a group of 4.

At the time during my visit (12.30pm+ on a Sunday), it was quite peak crowd, definitely wasn’t very optimal to chill for me (hot and super crowded) even though we have a outdoor table for our group of 4.

Maybe off-peak timing will be much better with lesser crowd? Or just grab and go during peak timing.
